MRes Informatics (Construction Informatics)

Mode of Study: Full-time (12 months) and Part-time (36 months, maximum)

Entry date: January and October (Two intakes per year)

Description:
Students talkingConstruction Informatics is a specialist area within the MRes Informatics course. The Construction Informatics course will enable participants to enhance their professional skills with applications of emergent technologies in the respective workplace. This course is suitable for people who have the construction management background, such as construction, building and surveying; construction technology and systems; environmental systems management; maintenance management; or other fields with equivalent experience subject to the University's APEL rules. All the modules are offered jointly offered jointly by the Informatics Research Centre and School of Construction Management, particularly the world-leading Intelligent Building Lab led by  Prof Derek Clements-Croome. Participants will have access to expertise and research resources from the University and the external communities which both the schools are associated with.

Requirements:
To obtain an MRes degree, you are required to complete the following taught modules (each module is worth 20 CATs, i.e. credits), and an individual dissertation project (100 CATs, i.e. credits):

  • 2 common core modules
  • 2 specialist modules
  • a research dissertation.

  • Applied informatics
  • Research methods  

Optional modules:

  • Concepts, strategy and management (delivered by School of Construction Management)
  • Facilities management (delivered by School of Construction Management)
  • Design management and briefing (delivered by School of Construction Management)
