One Scholarship for MSc in International Planning and Sustainable Urban Management (IPSUM).

One scholarship worth £9,500 is now available for the new MSc in International Planning and Sustainable Urban Management (IPSUM) programme at the School of Real Estate & Planning. This can be held in conjunction with the £1000 bursary currently on offer. Students who wish to be considered for the fellowship must indicate the same on their application form. MSc/PGDip/PG Cert in International Planning and Sustainable Urban Management

• Full-time MSc: 12 months
• Full-time PG DIP: 10 months
• Full-time PG Cert: 7 months

The aim of this degree is to prepare graduates for a career in urban planning and management primarily in the global South (but also in the global North in so far as they deal with issues in the South) by providing opportunities for upgrading knowledge and skills in a range of disciplines. Three key teaching and learning philosophies/strategies guide the programme design: internationalisation, interdisciplinarity and industry focus.

The MSc in International Planning and Sustainable Urban Management (IPSUM) is based on a 180 credits modular structure with three 20-credits core modules, three 20 credit option modules, one 30 credits Interdisciplinary Critical Study Project and one 30 credits Placement module. Three core modules deal with problems and issues in developing countries; theories to help conceptualise these issues; and tools and techniques to deal with it. Students who only do the three core modules will be eligible for a PG Certificate. Three more 20 credits option modules, one each from three disciplinary blocks (with the Real Estate Block being compulsory) will be chosen by Masters/Diploma students. MSc students will further gain 60 credits by undertaking a desk based 'Interdisciplinary Critical Review Project' and an international Work Placement Project.

The programme is jointly accredited by the Royal Town Planning Institute and the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors.

Entry Requirements:

A good first degree in any cognate discipline or relevant work experience (minimum of 2 years) assessed as adequate by the University.

IELTS score of 7.00 with no component being less than 6.5.
