The Reading Real Estate Foundation
The School of Real Estate & Planning benefits enormously from the work of the The Reading Real Estate Foundation. RREF was established in January 2002 at the instigation of Professor Andrew Baum, who remains active in the running of the organisation. The aim of RREF is to provide support for real estate education at the University of Reading and one aspect of this is a range of awards, bursaries and initiatives for current students. Full details of the bursaries can be found here.
There are over 5,000 Reading real estate and planning graduates spanning the years from 1968 to present. RREF is in regular contact with over 3,000 individual alumni, many of whom are working in the industry both here in the UK and around the world. RREF is vital in developing and maintaining strong links between the School of Real Estate & Planning, its students, and the industry its graduates will join.
RREF provides informed but independent advice to REP on issues surrounding the employability of REP students and ensures that real estate education at Reading responds to current business needs. RREF also organises alumni events including the RREF Breakfast Forums, the RREF Annual Golf Day and the RREF Annual Dinner. Find out more about all their events on The Reading Real Estate Foundation website.
In addition to the alumni events, RREF organise career development and recruitment events for current real estate and planning students throughout the year. These include an evening lectures series with key industry speakers, an annual Careers Fair which is attended by more than 20 firms, and offers help with work experience and summer placements. In 2008 RREF launched the highly successful Mentoring Programme which pairs students with professionals in the real estate industry.
