The Reading Real Estate Foundation
The School of Real Estate & Planning benefits enormously from the work of the Reading Real Estate Foundation. RREF was established in January 2002 at the instigation of Professor Andrew Baum, who remains active in the running of the organisation. The aim of RREF is to provide support for real estate education at the University of Reading and one aspect of this is a range of awards, bursaries and initiatives for current students. Full details of the bursaries can be found here.
RREF has created a database of all Reading real estate graduates who, to date, number some 3,500. The Reading Real Estate Alumni Database has been developed to build a bridge between the academic world and industry by strengthening the links between REP and the Reading real estate graduates. RREF provides informed but independent advice to REP on issues surrounding the employability of REP students and ensures that real estate education at Reading responds to current business needs. RREF also organises alumni events including the RREF Breakfast Forums, the RREF Annual Golf Day and the RREF Annual Dinner. For further details go to the Reading Real Estate Foundation website www.rref.net
In addition to the alumni events, RREF organise career development and recruitment events for current real estate and planning students throughout the year. These include an evening lectures series with key industry speakers, an annual Careers Fair which is attended by more than 20 firms, and offers help with work experience and summer placements. In 2008 RREF launched the highly successful Mentoring Programme which pairs students with professionals in the real estate industry.
