A Matter of Trust - at the heart of the coaching relationship
Presenter; Prof. Malcolm Higgs, DBA, MPhil, Chartered Psychologist, ADipC, FCIPD, FCII
Trust has been increasingly emerging as an important aspect of a wide range of relationships within organisations. These include leadership, team working, communication etc. However, to date much of the focus has been on factors that impact on the trust relationship developed between individuals over time.
In this session we will explore the extent to which individuals have an innate Propensity to Trust another person and how this may impact on building trust based relationships. In doing this we will explore some recent research in this area that also considers how an individual's propensity to trust can also have an impact on their well being in an organisational context.
The session will involve not only presentation of findings, but also provide opportunities for participants to discuss the implications of these findings and, in particular their implications in a coaching relationship.
