Paul Bennett
Paul is Director, The Henley Partnership; Co-Director, Advanced Management Programme; and Client Director, Executive Education at Henley Business School. He is responsible for the strategic leadership of the areas he manages and is committed to the delivery, development and implementation of innovative, relevant and impactful learning interventions. Paul utilises his strong experience of client relationship management at senior level and good understanding of the current business environment and management challenges to develop strategic conversations and translate operational and strategic issues into learning initiatives. He is very much at the forefront of learning process innovation and has designed and delivered programmes globally in a variety of learning environments. He brings first-hand experience of leading successful teams within sport and organisations to his lecturing portfolio. Following a successful naval career and prior to joining Henley, Paul was Managing Director of an international leadership development consultancy, delivering tailored development solutions across a number of key business sectors. An accomplished international keynote speaker, Paul's positive energy, experience, knowledge and sense of fun ensure that the messages he shares during his talks inspire others to action. Paul is a regular columnist on Leadership and Management topics and is currently researching Authentic Leadership and the Return on Investment from Executive Education
Jeff Callander
Jeff is an Associate Faculty Member of Henley Business School, contributing to the Advanced Management Programme and Programme Director for both Developing Insight Led Commercial Strategies and Challenging Strategies with Insight.
For the past 20 years Jeff has been a management consultant with specific expertise in developing and contributing to business strategies. He has been involved with Henley for the past 5 years bringing practical solutions and real world experience. He has worked with many blue-chip FMCG companies, including Diageo, Unilever, Nestl, BP, Danone and Future Brands (USA) and B2B companies such as Castrol BP, Friesland Foods and Kone Cranes. He is also an active director of an oilfield-engineering company. His work includes developing customer focused business strategies, running Board-level business improvement projects and creating customer facing organisations. His experience is truly international - he has performed management audits, run executive workshops and conducted market studies in over 50 countries and he is fluent in Spanish and Portuguese
Jane Cranwell-Ward
Jane is a visiting fellow at Henley Business School working as a Client Director, Programme Director of Henley's open Managing Change Programme and as tutor on Executive Programmes including Essentials of Management Jane has run a diverse range of Leadership Programmes and clients have included: Technip, Trader Media, Irish Courts Service, Diageo, National Air Traffic Services, Aviva and Eurostar. The programmes were designed to help managers initiate and lead major change and deal with personal change. In 2000/1 Jane researched the BT Global Challenge round the World Yacht Race investigating how to inspire leaders to achieve and sustain high performance in challenging times. The research was published as a book entitled Inspiring Leadership - Staying Afloat in Turbulent Times. Jane is qualified to use a range of psychometrics including MBTI and Insights and uses these instruments to help individuals and teams perform more effectively. She also specialises in stress management and has written several books and articles on the subject.
Guy Gumbrell
Guy is a Client Director at Henley Business School and Programme Director for The Essentials of Management. His background is in education and management development both in the corporate and consultancy environments. He began his management development career in George Wimpey before moving into consultancy where he built up experience of developing managers (both local and ex-patriate) in UK-based Japanese companies and a range of multinationals. Before joining the Client Director team at Henley, Guy was an Associate Tutor, working on leadership and coaching projects. He specialises in leadership development and the implementation of learning through individual coaching and action learning. Guy has worked with organisations from most sectors, especially professional practices and international teams. He is currently researching the application and impact of management development programmes with several client organisations.
Nick Holley
Nick is Co-Director of the Centre for HR Excellence and Programme Director of the Advanced HR Business Partner Programme. He brings a unique background that combines experience as an army officer, ten years as a successful futures and foreign exchange broker with Merrill Lynch and sixteen years in senior organisational, leadership and people development roles in large global organisations. This background means he understands the theory but combines this with a proven ability to deliver and sustain change in highly complex organisations. At the Centre Nick has worked with organisations including BAT, BT, Cadbury Schweppes, Canon, Centrica, Daimler, GSK, Imperial Tobacco, Kone, KPMG, M&S, Microsoft, Ministry of Justice, Nationwide, Nestle, NHS, Oracle, Oxfam, Panasonic, RBS, Royal Mail, Sainsbury's, Shell, Siemens, Smiths Industries, Travelport, Unilever, Vodafone and Willmott Dixon to advance current thinking around HR. He has recently carried out research on employee engagement, HR careers, HR in the recession and recovery, HR leadership, HR organisational models, talent management and zero based HR. Nick has also worked with Barclays, BSkyB, Celtel, DP/DHL, Draka, Ecobank, Ericsson, Governments of UAE and Dubai, Holcim, Honeywell, HSBC, ING, Just Retirement, Liverpool Victoria, M&G, Merrill Lynch, Morgan Stanley, NetJets, Qatar National Bank, Rosneft, RTA Dubai, Safaricom, Saudi Aramco, Saudi Telecom, Serco, Sony Ericsson, StatoilHydro, Truphone, Virgin Nigeria and Yahoo in the UK, Finland, Germany, Ghana, Hungary, Kenya, Malaysia, Netherlands, Nigeria, Norway, Portugal, Qatar, Russia, Saudi Arabia, Singapore, Sweden, Switzerland, UAE, Ukraine, and the US on a number of projects looking at change management, HR strategy and capability, leadership development, people and performance management and strategy implementation, as well as providing one to one coaching for a number of senior line and HR leaders up to CEO/Chairman level. Nick was recently voted the 5th most influential thinker in HR in the last 5 years.
Kate Hudson
Kate is an Associate Client Director at Henley Business School. She works with top teams and senior leaders on leadership, team and organisational development issues, specialising in the behavioural changes that underpin cultural and organisational changes. Kate works in both the public and private sectors throughout the UK and around the globe. After completing university in the UK Kate spent a year at the University of Michigan Ann Arbor as a Fulbright Scholar, before returning to the UK to pursue a career with ICI as an HR specialist. Over the next 10 years she worked on a range of HR projects across the ICI businesses. It was here that as an HR Director she first became interested in, and then committed to, the change processes that accompany management and organisational development. This was the start of a lifelong belief that the success of organisations, whether public or private, starts with the success of its leadership and the ability of that leadership to lead the organisations through change in a way that not only contributes to the business but inspires its people. Kate moved from ICI to Henley where she designs large and small scale development programmes to deliver against organisational objectives. Clients include AstraZeneca, AEGON UK, Hitachi, United Biscuits, the Tribal Group, Kidde PLC, the Cabinet Office and the H.F.E.A. These programmes focus on helping groups of senior leaders focus on what it means to be a leader and how to develop leadership both at the individual and the organisational level. It includes helping individuals to understand about change and its impact on people and to develop strategies for the influence and inspiration of others and the creation of better performance. Kate is also an experienced facilitator of both large and small group processes and for 10 years has run Henley's most successful open programme, Developing Leaders.
Nick Kemsley
Nick has had a successful corporate career across six sectors, his last role being Group Vice President Organisational Effectiveness. Nick has set up or run Strategic HR/OD functions in renowned global businesses including Travelport, Prudential and BOC/Linde Group, overseeing the development of strategic organisational capability and maximising business efficiency and productivity. He has set up and led resourcing, talent & leadership, performance and L&D functions at global, regional and local levels. In his work with the Centre for HR Excellence, Nick works to develop organisational capability and performance and has a particular focus on HR functional capability.
Earlier roles include Director of Talent & Capability at Prudential UK & Europe, Global OD Director and HRD Central Functions for BOC/Linde Group, and a number of years in European OD and Management Development for Mars Incorporated. Although known for his work in HR, the first half of his career was spent in project and business management for renowned businesses such as GE, GECAlstom and Rolls-Royce Aerospace, including considerable time working on Supply Chain, Manufacturing and Sales & Marketing issues.
Pam McCarthy
Pam is a Client Director at Henley Business School and has devoted much of her career to developing expertise in whole life learning in a work context. Pam has held a wide range of learning and development professional roles, in both the public and private sectors. Pam has worked with world leading companies such as Nokia, Motorola, BT, Roche, GEC and Morgan Stanley. Pam has worked at C-level with top teams, this has also informed her work, preparing hi-potential women and men for promotion to the most senior positions. In her role as Management & OD Director at Sodexo, Pam was an adviser to the CEO, on matters of culture, top team dynamics, overcoming resistance and developing employee engagement. Pam then went on to work as a Client Director for Cranfield School of Management, before joining Henley Business School in 2012.
Peter Nelson
Peter is Programme Director for Influencing & Leadership Impact. He has delivered programmes at Henley for ten years and also delivers sessions on Henley MBA programmes, the Advanced Management programme and on bespoke programmes for a range of corporate clients. His main areas of interest include negotiation skills, business pitches, influencing, personal impact and presentation skills. Peter originally trained as an accountant before joining a training organisation. As a director and one of the major shareholders he helped build a successful management training consultancy which employed 108 full time consultants. During this time Peter balanced the roles of finance director, running programmes and conferences, as well as responsibility for business development and large contracts. Major clients included BT, Barclays and The Royal Bank of Scotland. He pioneered business theatre and was possibly the first person to employ a full time producer and actors to work within a business training environment. He has run training courses and conferences for organisations in Europe, Russia, Eastern Europe, the Middle East, the Far East, Africa and North America.
Dr Suzanne Pollack
Suzanne is a visiting fellow at Henley Business School and her expertise lies in helping senior executives, and top teams, to reach their full potential through coaching and learning programmes/interventions. A strong emphasis is placed on achieving the highest level of personal performance to deliver excellent business, and personal, results. She is a co-director of Henley's Leadership Programme and works on many other Henley Programmes and coaching assignments. Suzanne adopts a pragmatic approach, drawing on a blend of NLP, best business practice, her own senior leadership experience and proven psychological techniques, to enable executives to move forward. She is skilled in using instruments such as the Myers Briggs Type Indicator, Firo-B, 360's and Emotional Intelligence Questionnaires. Her PhD was concerned with the experience and management of change. Her track record covers all parts of the globe and a wide variety of clients ranging from small companies and NGOs to multinationals, such as Shell and IBM. Suzanne has also worked with professional service firms and government departments. She has a small therapeutic practice.
Phil Radcliff
Programme Director; The Leadership Programme. Phil specialises in supporting senior teams and individual managers in the management of change. Phil's international career involved organisational development roles in the engineering, food and drink industries - culminating in the management of a series of mergers that resulted in the formation of Diageo and a period of time as the HR Director of United Distillers and Vintners. Following this, Phil established a network of specialist consultants to support major businesses and the voluntary sector. He focuses on the coaching of senior management and facilitation of top teams in the process of managing organisational change.
Steve Robinson
Steve is a Visiting Fellow at Henley Business School. He also directs the client relationships with Scottish and Newcastle Plc (European Drinks Business) and Lafarge (International Building Materials Producer). Previously he was with Ashridge Management College for 14 years, latterly as Director of Executive MBA Programmes. During his seven years in that role he pioneered the European Partnership Consortium MBA programme for Merck, Lufthansa and Deutsche Bank, building on the practical in-company project based model. His previous role was principal lecturer in Financial Management at Manchester Metropolitan University and before that he had a career in industry in accounting roles with the Chloride Group, David Brown Group and the then British Steel Corporation. He has designed and taught on a variety of management development programmes, both public and customised, in the States, Europe, Asia and Australia. His recent clients include Jardine Matheson (UK based conglomerate), Jardine Lloyd Thompson (Insurance Broking), MTV, Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer (international corporate law firm), Penguin (book publisher), IKEA (home furnishing retailer - Asia region), Boots (retail chemist), RHM (food manufacturer), Wates Group (construction), Carphone Warehouse (mobile telecoms services provider) and PGS (global oilfield services provider). He is the author of the Financial Times Handbook of Financial Management.
