The Advanced HR Business Partner Programme

HBS258_RT8The financial crisis and subsequent belt-tightening has expedited a rapid evolution in what business is looking for from HR and raised needs which challenge both the 'hardware' and 'software' which HR has spent the last few years embedding. There is a risk that some of the structures, skills, processes and tools which have been established, could end up being left high and dry by a shift in the environment.

Those HR professionals who can rise to the challenge by implementing HR strategies that are driven firmly from the business strategy, navigating the political and commercial terrain and finding more pragmatic, flexible and measurable ways to deliver value will potentially gain more credibility in the next two years than they have had in the previous ten. Both senior and aspiring HR professionals need the skills and behaviours to be able to do just that.

Who is the programme for?

This programme is designed for senior or high-potential, aspiring HR professionals. It has been completely revised to offer a real contemporary understanding of what HR is all about and insights that participants can immediately apply to drive their own success and the success of their business.

"A brilliant course. I feel really inspired to take learning forward"

Darren Ging, HR Business Partner - Equifax

"I most liked the political intelligence work that gave me real insights into why I do what I do"

Marie Stephenson, Head of HR Group Corporate Centre - Standard Life

Programme content

The Advanced HR Business Partner Programme has been completely revised in 2011 in the light of insights from research by the Henley Centre for HR Excellence and feedback from clients. The revised programme is highly practical and will focus on helping participants operate in a new way for a new environment, ensuring:

  • they have more to say that is relevant to, and makes a difference to, their business
  • they are listened to.  The Advanced HR Business Partner Programme has been completely revised in 2011 in the light of insights from research by the Henley Centre for HR Excellence and feedback from clients. Participants will work on four challenges:

Advanced HR Business Partner DiagramEach day will focus on one of the three outer circles whilst individual coaching, provided throughout the programme, will help people relate them to their own personal challenge.

Prior to the programme participants will be asked to connect with their own business to understand its key commercial and strategic challenges and to collect 360 degree feedback in order to understand how they are perceived against each challenge. At the end of the programme participants will be asked to present to a 'Board' on how they will address these challenges. This output will enable them to demonstrably operate in a new way from the moment they return to work.
