Pay

The HR Operations team provides the delivery of effective transactional services to managers, staff and potential new recruits including general enquires, recruitment, HR administration and administering the University's payroll.

The team aims to ensure that each employee of the University is paid accurately and on time each month both in accordance with your terms and conditions of employment and statutory requirements.

HR Operations are based in Room 110, Whiteknights House, and operate a counter service for enquiries at the following times:

• Monday to Thursday: 9.00am - 5.00pm
• Friday: 9.00am - 4.30pm

Pay day

Salary is paid monthly by credit transfer into your nominated bank/building society account.  This is normally on the last working day of the month.

Christmas

Pay day is usually earlier in December.

Advance Payment Requests

Over recent months there has been an increase in the number of requests received for an advance payment of salary. Such advances are made by BACS payment and take approximately one week to process. Advances are only considered for a new employee who has not been paid at the end of the first month due to paperwork not reaching HR in time. THIS IS THE ONLY SITUATION WHERE WE WOULD CONSIDER PAYING THE ADVANCE OF SALARY TO AN INDIVIDUAL.

Sarah Bailey, Head of HR Operations, will consider each request on merit. However in the majority of requests relate to late or incomplete paperwork, and advances should not be used habitually to remedy this.

Therefore, in light of the additional administration involved a decision has been made to start charging for this service. Please note that with immediate effect there will be a £15 charge for all advances of pay that are made. No charge will be made if the advance payment is required due to an error that has occurred within HR.

The current charge of £25 will remain for a CHAPS payment (payment is made on the same or next day).
