About this Masters programme
Duration: 12 months (full-time) Starts: October Fees and funding: View for 2012-13
This multidisciplinary Masters programme, offered jointly with Henley Business School's ICMA Centre, will provide you with an in-depth understanding of the interrelationships between areas of finance and the global economy.
MSc International Business and Finance examines key issues from both a business and economic perspective, including how financial markets can be leveraged by multinational corporations seeking to exploit international business opportunities, the management challenges presented, and the relevance of these to financial and capital markets.
You will gain a comprehensive understanding of the international business environment, in terms of the competitive and investment climate, which is largely determined by the policies and regulations established by governments and supranational institutions. You will utilise frameworks and methodologies to make sense of the interaction between firm strategies, economic policies and the changing international environment. These global strategies are constantly in flux as these environments rapidly evolve in a globalising world.
Henley Business School is home to the internationally-renowned John H. Dunning Centre for International Business. The University of Reading has remained at the forefront of teaching and research in this field for more than 45 years. The ICMA Centre is one of the leading providers of finance programmes in Europe.

How to apply for this Masters programme
MSc International Business and Finance is particularly suitable for graduates with a degree in business or economics but we also welcome applications from recent university graduates from a wide range of disciplines. See entry requirements and how to apply.
Please note that, while there is no requirement for a quantitative background to entry onto this MSc, some of the core and optional modules require some quantitative skills, or at least a willingness to follow and apply quantitative arguments. We offer an introductory, non-examined, quantitative methods course during Part One of the degree programme that covers the required techniques. The course provides an introduction to three main areas of mathematics and statistics that are used in finance; Probability and Statistics, Linear Algebra, and Regression Analysis. The emphasis is on the financial applications of quantitative techniques. However, you may also wish to purchase and work through an introductory quantitative methods for finance textbook prior to joining the programme. Our admissions team will be happy to advise you on this.
We operate a rolling admissions system and you are therefore advised to apply early in order to be sure of your place on our Masters programmes. We are already experiencing high levels of demand for 2012 entry and it is possible that we will have to close applications to some Masters programmes in advance once places are filled. Read more.
