About the Henley MBA by Flexible Learning
The MBA by Flexible Learning is a part-time programme delivered through a blend of face-to-face workshops, activities involving peer group learning in teams and self study, on and off line. Over the 3 years of the programme, individuals study and share experiences with like-minded professionals from a wide variety of managerial backgrounds and business industries. The programme has a number of aims for its programme members, including:

  • Developing a strategic, holistic and integrated perspective of business, organisations and management
  • Integrating theory and practice through an approach that combines academic rigour with practitioner relevance
  • Providing personal development opportunities to support individuals' development of management capability and capacity to work in and lead teams in different situations

Entry Requirements

Our MBA by Flexible Learning programme is designed for experienced practicing managers. Most already have 9 years postgraduate work experience. Sharing your experience with fellow programme members enriches your learning.

To join a Henley MBA programme you will need:

 

Structure
At Henley you won't study a series of seemingly unrelated disciplines but three completely integrated stages, representing major business challenges, that build towards your final MBA qualification.

Together they cover business management from every practical and theoretical angle, giving you powerful tools and decision-making techniques for your career.

  • Stage 1 - Managing the organisation (Year One)
    You will start your MBA with a compulsory 3 day MBA Starter Workshop which takes place on our Greenlands campus. In Stage One, there are an additional four workshops, each lasting two or three days. You can choose to stay on at Greenlands after the Starter Workshop and complete all four additional modules OR by joining your peers for workshops spread throughout the academic year and which are held at the Greenlands campus.
  • Stage 2 - Making business choices (Year Two)
    There are four workshops at Greenlands each lasting two or three days
  • Stage 3 - Making a difference (Year Three)
    There are three workshops at Greenlands each lasting two or three days


If you are a participant from a country that is close to one of Henleys international locations such as South Africa, Finland, Germany, Hong Kong you may be able to attend workshops locally. If you are joining the programme through one of our international partners in Ireland, Malta, Denmark or Trinidad, please visit their respective websites for more information.

The Personal Development module runs through all stages of the Henley MBA and enables you to take control of your learning and career goals, becoming a more effective manager to the benefit of your organisation.

Content
Stage one - You will gain a better understanding of the changing reality of management and leadership in the 21st Century and the role you play as a manager. There are three workshops which cover all the core modules in the first stage AND a compulsory MBA Starter Workshop.

  • Managing People and Performance (2 days)
  • Managing Processes, Systems and Projects (2 days)
  • Managing Financial Resources and Personal Development development plans and personality. (3 days in total)


Stage two - You will gain insight and knowledge into the strategic aspects of modern business. There are three workshop which cover all three core modules:

  • Strategic and International Business (2 days)
  • Corporate Finance and Governance and Personal Development Building career/building competence (3 days in total)
  • Strategic Marketing (2 days)


Stage three - You will complete three workshops which cover the core modules and prepare you for the final project

  • Leadership and Change. This workshop includes a 1 day session on research methods Manager as Investigator (3 days in total)
  • Reputation and Responsibility (2 days)
  • Management Challenge (2 days)


At the end of stage one and two, there are optional one-day workshops which help you prepare for the examinations.

We understand that one of your key motivations for taking the Henley MBA is to develop yourself as an individual.

For those of you who are self-sponsored you are probably rethinking your career direction. So work starts from day one on career planning. It is so vital, we have placed it at the heart of the programme.

Personal development is weaved throughout the MBA which provides an integrated approach to 'careers'. Henleys career service provides a number of workshops to help develop the skills required to promote yourself during and after your MBA, including: networking opportunities, recruitment events and sector specific sessions from industry professionals.

For experienced managers looking to develop their international management competencies. The programme is structured to allow you to continue to work full-time and to study your MBA part-time, connecting your learning to current global and relevant organisational issues. Ideal if you are unable to take significant time out of the workplace to study and want greater flexibility over how, when and where you achieve your MBA qualification.
