Congratulations to our 2007 graduates

This year's graduates celebrate at London Road campusThis year's graduation ceremonies took place during the week commencing 02 July 2007, and celebrated the success of students from across each of the Business School's departments.

Around 500 graduates from the School, along with their friends and family, were welcomed to the picturesque Great Hall, on the University's London Road campus, to mark the special occasion. The traditional cap and gown ceremony was followed by an informal reception. Deloitte once again sponsored the reception for the both Economics and Management, with industry organisations including Vodafone, SEGRO and Land Securities Trillium sponsoring prizes in Economics, Management and Real Estate & Planning.

These included:

Economics

  • Akbar Ali: Deloitte Prize for Outstanding Achievement –presented by Paula Quinton-Jones, Graduate Recruitment Manager, Deloitte.
  • Terry Wilcock: The John Dunning Award – presented by Dr Simon Burke, Head of Department.
  • Alistair Muirhead: Vodafone Prize for outstanding contribution to the Department - presented by Dr Simon Burke, Head of Department.

Management

  • John Heavey: Deloitte Prize for Outstanding Achievement – presented by Paula Quinton-Jones, Graduate Recruitment Manager, Deloitte.
  • James Shrimpton: Reid Williams Prize for best Accounting student – presented by the Mrs Jane Walters, Reid Williams.
  • Marianne Afflick: Departmental Prize for best Management student – presented by Dr Simon Booth, Head of Department.
  • Martin Flisek: Departmental Prize for best Language and Management student presented by presented by Dr Simon Booth, Head of Department.
  • Tom North: Vodafone Prize for outstanding contribution to the Department - presented by Dr Simon Booth, Head of Department.
  • Zenabu Abubakar: Departmental Prize for outstanding contribution to the Department - presented by Dr Simon Booth, Head of Department.

Real Estate & Planning

  • Thomas Brook, Jo Ciorra and Aled Jones: Prize for obtaining a first degree – presented by Alan Rowley, Undergraduate Courses Director.
