Synopsis: As the UK begins to emerge from the worst financial crisis in almost a century and enters one of the most interesting periods in recent political history, so the role played by business has never been more crucial. In his lecture, Jeremy Darroch will talk about the lessons that businesses must learn from the crisis and the role that private enterprise can play in helping to address the long term challenges facing our society.
Jeremy Darroch was appointed Chief Executive of BSkyB in December 2007 after joining the company as Chief Financial Officer in August 2004. During his time at BSkyB, he has been part of the leadership team behind the company's expansion into the broader £20 billion marketplace for entertainment and communications through the launch of its broadband and telephony services.
Previously Jeremy was Group Finance Director of DSG International plc, formerly Dixons Group plc, which he joined as Retail Finance Director in January 2000. Prior to Dixons, he spent 12 years at Procter & Gamble in a variety of roles in the UK and Europe, latterly as European Finance Director for their Health Care businesses. Jeremy is a Non-Executive Director and Chairman of the Audit Committee of Marks & Spencer Group plc.
