Mentoring Programme Update
The Mentoring Programme enters its fourth year and is more successful than ever
The highly esteemed Mentoring Programme has continued to thrive throughout the past year. We recruited 53 new mentors to participate in the 2011/12 academic year, bringing the total of industry professionals involved to 284 and the potential partnerships to 348. We now have been able to allocate a mentor to all students who would like to participate in the Programme which is a fantastic achievement.
Alumnus Henry Morris, Associate Director, Head of Acquisitions Emerging Europe at Europa Capital, has been a mentor for 4 years and recently remarked: "I wanted to let you know what a fantastic programme I think it has become. It really does make a difference to people's careers. It is also very rewarding to spend the time helping others, rather than just thinking about the finances all day!"
We hope to continue to increase our database of mentors so that we are in a position to partner all students with mentors who work in the area(s) they are interested in. This will mean that not all mentors will be required to participate each year, but they will be more closely matched with a student when paired up which will benefit both parties. Therefore please do not hesitate to apply to participate in the Programme if you have not yet done so. We are especially eager to hear from you if you work in the rural sector as we are extremely short of mentors in this area.
We will be holding the annual Mentoring Reception again in March 2012 at which we will commence the nominations for Mentor and Mentee of the Year - watch this space for further details.
