RREF Mentoring Programme
The RREF Mentoring Programme was set up in 2008 and aims to offer as many undergraduates and postgraduates as possible the opportunity to have a one to one connection with a real estate professional in the industry to better prepare them for employment.
The programme is thought to be the largest of its kind in the UK and after only the third year there are over 300 partnerships. Demand from students is growing each year, whereby now every undergraduate and postgraduate student who wants to participate is allocated a mentor.
Bryan Laxton, CEO UK Cushman & Wakefield and RREF Trustee, explains why he championed the scheme:
"One of the very best ways we, as practitioners, can help students is to offer them an insight into our experiences and here they have the opportunity to have a one to one connection with an alumnus. This is a great opportunity for us all to give something back to Reading and to share the benefit of our experiences with some of the brightest and keenest students in the country who will soon be entering our industry."
Along with other RREF initiatives, the Mentoring Programme helps give an advantage to Reading's real estate and planning graduates and we are delighted to report that 97% of our 2010 BSc graduates are now in full-time employment or further study.
Mentoring Reception
We hold an annual Mentoring Reception for all mentees and mentors, which this year was hosted by leading law firm SJ Berwin. It provides students with an opportunity to meet and engage with their mentor and other alumni involved in the programme and for many it is their first opportunity to utilise their networking skills.
Become a Mentor
We are always looking for additional mentors, both in general practice and more specialist real estate related areas, specifically in the planning and rural sectors. If you would like to volunteer to help a student, or would like further information on the programme, please contact us or see become a mentor.
Become a Mentee
